Weight Loss Challenge


Our progress is still slow, but steady. This week I am trying something new to get me to my weight loss goal by the end of this month. I have been doing intermittent fasting for months now. It is a great way to burn more fat to change my body composition and shift my muscle to fat ratio toward a higher percentage of muscle. I can even tell the difference in the way my clothes fit. However, the part of my body that continues to be a challenge for me is my mid-section. I cannot get this stomach to go down. So, for the next three (3) weeks I am going to focus more on cardio, and do HIIT training at least 3 days out the week. HIIT is high-intensity interval training that combines moderate intensity intervals with high-intensity intervals. So my plan this week on the treadmill is:


A. Warm up on an easy jog for 10 minutes.

Next complete 60 seconds on a challenging pace

Then 60 seconds off to recover


B. Repeat three (3) times, decreasing the recovery by 10 seconds each time


C. Recover at an easy walk for 2 minutes


D. Then do five (5) 30-second sprint intervals

30 seconds on, 50 seconds off

30 seconds on, 40 seconds off

30 seconds on, 30 seconds off

30 seconds on, 20 seconds off

30 seconds on

Cool down for 5 minutes
