It has been in the high 80’s to low 90’s for the last couple of weeks. For me, that is extreme. And yes, I am complaining. When is the humidity going to go away? I want it to be between 75 and 82 degrees for during the summer. I was also complaining about the cold weather earlier this year. It brought back to my mind a trip I made last year to Canada.
This is what 4 degrees looks like in New Brunswick Canada. With the wind, it feels like -10 degrees. That was definitely the trip for layers, hats, scarves, gloves, ear muffs, long johns, and toe warmers. They were still recovering from a major storm from the week before, so that is why you see dirty snow. While there, it did snow off and on our second day, but it did not stick. According to the locals, if the flakes are big and fluffy, do not expect an accumulation, which was the case with our visit.
I am usually excited about traveling to a new city, but I was dreading this trip. I guess with the amount of travel I did in 2016, I was was not happy about getting on a plane. And then to have to travel to a destination that was colder than what I left, I was convinced this would not be a fun trip.
Fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised. The trip turned out to be great. The meals we had were terrific. To highlight our last night, we drove the scenic route to the restaurant to see the longest covered bridge in the world, 1,282 feet. It was a sight to see over the frozen river. That's me trying to keep a smile on my face with the sub-zero winds blowing my way.
The restaurant was another exciting site to see. We dined in a train car. That's right, a converted train car, which was very lovely. The restaurant is Fresh Fine Dining in Florence - Bristol Providence. Please check out their website. The food was amazing!!! From start to finish the experience was one of the best I have ever had. One of the menu choices is the Chef's choice. You have the option to tell the chef what you like, don't like, or let him surprise you with your entree. I usually am pretty adventurous with food, but that night, I played it safe. My choice was the steak with risotto. The steak melted in my mouth. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, and the service was excellent. I highly recommend Fresh Fine Dining.
So, the moral of the story is … stop complaining. It’s always worst somewhere else. Be happy where you are.
